What if?
Most common questions answered
Is Original more secure than One?
No, both deliver the same uncompromising level of wheel theft protection.
Rimgard One and Rimgard Original are built on the same patented security technology and engineered to make wheel theft impossible. The difference is purely in construction: Original adds an additional outer shield that covers the lug area on certain vehicles, while Rimgard One achieves the same protection through a lockable fixing system designed for broader compatibility.
Why isn’t Original available for Corolla / Kia EV?
Because those vehicles are protected through the dedicated Rimgard One solution.
Certain platforms allow for a fully enclosed design that prevents access to any wheel fixings, making Original the correct engineered fit. Rimgard One is offered on vehicles where wheel architecture requires a bolt- or nut-based system instead. Availability is determined by vehicle compatibility not by differences in security.
Can the lock be picked?
We know that YouTube is full of impressive videos showing skilled lock pickers opening locks in no time. But keep in mind:
These are professionals who train and compete in lock picking, practicing as if it were a sport.
They work under ideal conditions perfect lighting, steady workbenches, quiet environments not on the side of a street or in a garage under pressure.
Our goal is to stop real-world wheel thieves, not professional lock sport enthusiasts.
That’s why Rimgard uses a high-security cylinder from Assa Abloy, a world-leading lock manufacturer. This lock is specifically designed for demanding environments and is extremely resistant to manipulation and picking.
Can the lock be drilled?
Thieves want to be swift and discreet. While it’s true that with enough time and the right tools almost anything can be drilled, doing so is loud, time-consuming, and attracts attention. That makes it an unrealistic method for stealing wheels in the middle of a street.
What about a crow bar?
When Rimgard One is installed on the wheels it is designed for, prying the module off is going to be very hard, take alot of time and damage the wheel badly.
All wheels are different and Rimgard will only perform at its best when installed on the wheels designed for.
